Taft California

Taft, California

Taft is a great place to live but also features attractions tourists enjoy. Located next Bakersfield, the City of Taft takes advantage of its close proximity and access to arts & entertainment galore that Bakersfield is famous for.

However, Taft has a lot going on in its own right.

As a gateway to the Carrizo Plains National Monument, Taft offers four wheeling in the Temblor Range overlooking Taft and the Carrizo Plains. Museums include Historic Fort designed after Sutter's Fort in Sacramento, and West Kern Oil Museum. With some of the largest oilfields in California, it is fitting that the city describes itself as "energized".

Attractions such as Tule Elk Reserve; Honolulu Hills Raceway; Buena Vista Lake and the Buena Vista Golf Course; skydiving at Taft Airport.

EVENTS:

Every Thursday from May through September, 5-8 p.m. on Fifth Street Plaza, enjoy locally grown fresh fruits, vegetables, breads, and honey weekly.

Christmas Parade - usually held first Monday in December.

The visitors source for the city is Taft Chamber of Commerce, taftchamber.com.
