The community gathers to herald in the Christmas holiday at the corner of Robertson Boulevard and Front Street during the annual Christmas tree lighting held on the first Saturday of December.

The community and visitors (moms, dads, kids, grandmothers, grandfathers, cousins, friends, etc.) are invited to attend the tradition of lighting the Christmas tree seen by everyone as they drive into town.

The Chowchilla Lioness Lions Club offers refreshments and seasonal hot drinks during the chilly night air. The night's ceremony includes entertainment, the arrival of Santa Claus, and the lighting of the official City Christmas Tree.

For nearly half a century this special holiday event has been held, featuring school bands, local dignitaries, special entertainment, and games for the children. The evening concludes with a visit from Santa Claus distributing candy canes to the kids!

City of Chowchilla has been forced to evaluate community services and events due to budgetary constraints. Be sure to call before traveling to specific listed events. Some such events you'll enjoy include the annual Easter gathering and Halloween Celebration.

Events are not guaranteed. It is your responsibility to confirm before going.
