Long Beach was one of the first cities in Southern California to begin
offering outdoor dining many decades ago. Other nearby beach cities took note of
how Long Beach succeeded, and they likewise began putting the tables outside,
discovering that those seats became the most coveted.
La Palapa next to the Belmont Pool, and overlooking the beach and Belmont
Pier, is a place where dining inside is like dining out. The glass windows and
views are abundant from throughout the room, but the outdoor tables also steal
the show during the daylight hours, and towards the sunset glow.
Known for their views, a menu of popular burgers, pasta, steak, fish,
chicken, pork, Latin influenced dishes, and full cocktail bar, the prices for
lunch and dinner begin around $10 but seldom top $20 per entree.
Weddings are popular here, as you can have your cake and eat it too, at this
beachside dining resort.
Thursdays to Sundays La Palapa serves up live music at night with the lively
Long Beach crowd.
