The City of Torrance is proud to host the upcoming Patriotic Concert in the Park featuring the Palos Verdes Symphonic Band. In celebration of the 2022 Torrance’s Salute to the United States Armed Forces, the free concert will take place on at beginning at 2 p.m. The Palos Verdes Symphonic Band consists of nearly 60 musicians including former professional and amateur instrumentalists. The 75-minute concert will be led by Music Directors, Mark Hamamura and Eric Hankey. Pack a picnic, bring your blankets and chairs and come enjoy the sounds of your favorite patriotic tunes.

Celebrating the Ukulele bringing musical joy for over 100 years! Los Angeles International Ukulele Festival explores the musical versatility of the ukulele for the experienced ukulele player, the occasional strummer, and curious spectator.

The ukulele originating in the 19th century as a Hawaiian adaptation of the Portuguese machete, a small guitar-like instrument, which was introduced to Hawaii by Portuguese immigrants, mainly from Madeira and the Azores and is a member of the lute family of instruments. Ukuleles commonly come in four sizes: soprano, concert, tenor, and baritone and generally employs four nylon or gut strings or four courses of strings.
