The American Pyrotechnics Association rates South Shore's spectacular Fourth of July fireworks celebration one of the top five displays in the nation. 4th of July Lights on the Lake Fireworks at Tahoe South on July 4 is the largest synchronized fireworks display west of the Mississippi. The event begins at 9:45 p.m. with visibility around the shore.

Tuesday, July 4, 2023, The American Pyrotechnics Association rates South Shore’s spectacular Fourth of July fireworks celebration one of the top five displays in the nation. The show is scheduled to begin at 9:45 PM. The fireworks are visible from all over town.

The view from the lake is probably the most spectacular:

  • The M.S. Dixie II: South Shore’s Mississippi paddle wheeler offers a unique opportunity to view the light show from the water. Features live entertainment. Tickets: laketahoecruises.com.
  • Join Tahoe Cruises aboard their luxury 80-foot motor yacht, the Safari Rose, for the Fireworks Cruise! Enjoy a  catered dinner and unlimited beer, wine, and champagne along with music and  views of the spectacular fireworks display, courtesy shuttle is included.  Tickets: tahoecruises.com

Views from land:

Nevada Beach: Located about two miles east of the Nevada casinos on Elk Point Road, Nevada Beach is the ideal setting for a family barbecue at the beach. A wide, sandy shoreline leads down to the sapphire waters of Lake Tahoe. The view across the lake to the West Shore and Desolation Wilderness is unsurpassed. And the view of the fireworks display is one of the best in town.

Timber Cove Marina at the Tahoe Beach Retreat & Lodge: Offering front row seating that fills up fast.

The Tallac Historic Site: Off Emerald Bay Road, has an east-view perspective with nearby Baldwin Beach. For the more adventurous, the top of Mount Tallac offers a bird’s eye view of the fireworks extravaganza, but don’t forget your headlamp for the trek back down.

Area officials advise viewers to plan ahead, consider alternative modes of transportation and take all trash/belongings when the show concludes.

 
Tune your radio to KRLT-FM 93.9 or KOWL-AM 1490 for a music broadcast that will get your patriotic emotions flowing.

Route: Ski Run Blvd. to Bijou Park. Goes along US-50/Lake Tahoe Boulevard between Ski Run Blvd. and Al Tahoe Blvd. Finish at Bijou Community Park on Al Tahoe.

Don’t miss out on this family-friendly event and be sure to wear your red, white, and blue! There will be places to sit along the whole route, including Lakeview Commons and the parking lot at Ross/Rite Aid.

This is a unique opportunity to showcase community organizations while celebrating our South Lake Tahoe community, the Tahoe region, and our great nation.

Viewing locations will be along Hwy 50 between Ski Run Blvd. and Al Tahoe Blvd.
