DANA POINT - Festival of Whales & Grunion Run March 5-6; 12-13, 2011 dpfestivalofwhales

Event includes Mickey Muņoz Mongoose Cup paddling & BBQ at Baby Beach, Dana Point Harbor. The Harbor Sweep Fun Paddle is open to any type of paddling craft and the Mongoose Cup will be contested solely as a stand-up paddleboard race (SUP). Event participants will receive a commemorative Mongoose Cup tee, delicious BBQ lunch and chance to paddle with surf legend Mickey Muņoz. Event registration will open Saturday morning March 12 at 7:30 a.m. The delicious and affordably priced BBQ is open to the public as well., free concerts, paddle board clinic, ship and boat rides, art show and more. It is an annual event held each year in the Dana Point Harbor to celebrate the whale migrations seen offshore. Many activities are free, and some charge a fee.

SAN DIEGO - St. Patrick's Day Parade and Irish Festival. With over 150 entries, enjoy Marching Bands, Floats, Police and Fire Department units, the Emerald Societies, Clowns, equestrian entries, Border Patrol units, Scout Troops, bagpipe contingents, dancing groups, drill teams, roller skaters, antique cars, the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick, representatives from Ireland, and the reigning Miss Colleen and Smiling Irishman. 7 a.m. Pre-Parade Mass at Imperial House, 505 Kalmia Street; 9 a.m. Festival Area Opens; 10 a.m. Flag Raising Ceremony, Balboa Park, Sixth

Avenue / Juniper Street area; 10:30 a.m. Parade Steps off at Fifth Avenue and Juniper Street and proceeds North up Fifth Avenue from Juniper Street to Upas Street, over to Sixth Avenue and South on Sixth to Juniper Street, San Diego, CA. stpatsparade
