You’ll be "walking the dog" at the National Yo-yo Championships in Chico. Every year the finest spinners and walkers come equipped with tricks to battle it out for honors on the outdoor stage at the epi-center of the Yo-yo craze -- Chico, Calif. There’s nothing small about the feats performed (Chico means 'small' in Spanish) at the annual event that draws crowds to the free contest, the culmination of previous successes for yo-yo tricksters and spinners who have climbed the ranks during yo-yo season.
Each spinner selects music to go along with his or her entry, making for an entertaining time as the performers show their stuff. The National Yo-Yo Contest is free for all qualified competitors and free for all spectators.
When visiting Chico, there are several hot spots that people like to visit. The college town is known for its locally grown produce used in great eateries with health focus. The city features one of the largest city parks in the nation, and also is home to the historic Bidwell Mansion. But if you go for the Yo-yo action, you absolutely must visit the National Yo-yo Museum where you see the world’s biggest Yo-yo!
There is so much fun and so many
treats in one single night--this is the
premier event in Chico for Halloween.
Other exciting annual events include a
community Tree Lighting Ceremony.
