It's time to pull the plug on this one.

Sled Dog Races and Kids Rides are being postponed until March 14-15. While Mount Shasta has snow above 7000 feet, the race site at 5300 feet has no snow as of cancellation time. Precipitation up until the February 7-8 weekend is most likely going to be rain. The snowline for the storm is forecast to be between 7000 and 9000 feet, well above Deer Mountain Snowmobile Park. Check back before March 14, 2015! Good luck.

WEED - Sled Dog Races. Two days of racing events as teams from across the continent and Alaska compete. Location: Deer Mountain Snowmobile Park, 17 miles east of Weed, CA on Hwy. 97.

Siskiyou Sled Dog Races Distance Class race is an annual event held outside the city of Weed in Siskiyou County. The race is hosted each January by Siskiyou Snow Dog Sporting Association. The dogs and mushers sign in at 8 a.m. and the races begin at 9 a.m. normally. Cost: Free to watch.

Join in this FREE two day family winter wonderland event. Enjoy an exciting two days of racing events as teams from across the continent and Alaska compete each day in various categories from the 50 mile open class race with teams of twelve dogs or more, to the eight-dog, six-dog, and four-dog team sprint races, plus skijor races (skiers pulled by dogs). Free Parking. Food and concessions are available at the warming hut. Musher demonstrations will be held each day too.
