Fair Fried Food

Pictured is the Krispy Kreme cheddar bacon cheeseburger sold at county fairs.

When Hostess Twinkies went belly-up in 2012, the company cited reasons for sales slumps such as the public sought healthy food options. Oh, really? Explain, then, why fried Hostess Twinkies have become one of the favorite foods at county fairs. Likewise, fried Mars chocolate candy bars, fried Klondike Ice Cream Bars and the World's Hottest Ice Cream all have become sought after delights to curb your appetite.

  • The World's Hottest Ice Cream contains the Guinness Book of World Records world's hottest pepper, over 400 times hotter than Tabasco sauce. You must be over 18 or older to buy it.
  • Deep-Fried Twinkie Burger: Beef and pork belly patty topped with American cheese and crispy bacon, then placed between two patties made with deep-fried Twinkies.
  • Fried Kool-Aid inspired by the love of drinking Kool-Aid as a kid, comes from California Creator Charlie Boghosian, who explains that it is like donut holes with batter made from flour, water and Kool-Aid.
  • Fried Fireball – Pimento cheese, pickles, cayenne pepper and bacon are rolled into a ball, dipped in buttermilk, covered with a jalapeño-infused batter and deep fried. Served with chipotle ranch for dipping.
