January in California launches with the
mega-festival--the Tournament of Roses
which includes the famous Rose Parade
and the Rose Bowl (college football
game) held in the Rose Bowl in Pasadena.
While millions of visitors and residents
in California are nursing their hang-overs
or late night partying at New Year's Eve
celebrations, some are out participating
in decades-long traditions of Polar
Plunges into the Pacific Ocean or some
body of water in California.
January means the launch of the
migrating whales and boat tours to see
them. It also is the finest time to
visit California deserts before they get
too hot. You'll find a variety of
festivals in January through April.
