Recommended Action City Council:
1) Approve the Placita Santa Fe Merchants Association Tamale Festival on December 11, 2019, contingent upon the Merchants Association continuing to work with City Staff to obtain all appropriate permits and insurance, and agreeing to follow all City regulations for the event and to reimburse the City $8,000 for approximately 65 percent of event costs; and authorizing the temporary suspension of regulatory ordinance of the Placentia Municipal Code for the operation of the Tamale Festival on December 11, 2019 on the 100 and 200 Blocks of Santa Fe Avenue and the 200 Block of Bradford Avenue.

The Placita Santa Fe Merchants Association annual Tamale Festival, Las Posadas and the Winter Holiday Celebration features a procession re-enacting the travels of Mary and Joseph, live entertainment featuring the famous Mariachi Divas, caroling and fresh and delicious tamales for individual and quantity purchase. Santa Claus is sitting down with kids, who receive a gift and pose for individual pictures.
