Set among beautiful forests as the gateway to McCloud River, McCloud River Falls and Mt. Shasta Wilderness Area, the city's lumberjack heritage is evident with statues and murals around town paying homage to the burly guys who cut trees for lumber.
During the festival and parade (which takes place on Main Street on Saturday at 11 a.m.) kid honorees of contests such as the Lil Miss Fiesta and Lil Logger competition proudly carry their trophies, while youngsters and adults vie for title of Best Logger. Amateur logging competitions for kids are held on Saturday and adults on Sunday. Visitors are invited to enter the challenging competition, though you're not expected to win.
To round out an old-fashioned day of tournaments such as horseshoes and softball, the Watermelon Eating Contest for kids is a blast! As the sun goes down musical entertainment has all ages up on their feet, dancing to the beat.
Events are not guaranteed. It is your responsibility to confirm before going.
