Oceanside Longboard Surfing Club Contest & Beach Festival .  Surfing begins daily around 6 a.m. Location:  Oceanside Pier and Amphitheater,  200 N The Strand, Oceanside, CA. oceansidelongboardsurfingclub.org Cost: Free to watch.

The weather for the event should be sunny and nice. Ocean temperatures in early August are usually around 69 - 72 degrees, providing a really nice climate for the surfers participating in the event.

Heats start at 6:30 a.m. and run to approximately 5:30 p.m.

Saturday's Luau at Hunter's Steakhouse after Guy Takayama Noseriding and Pro Open awards presentation is free for the contestants with a wrist band. Non-contestants can purchase wrist bands at event booth: $5 for children (12 & under), $10 for adults.
