The annual Robot Film Festival, a one day event featuring premiers and the best in films containing robots and robot themes, is the brainchild of Social Roboticist Heather Knight (right photo). On the Forbes List for 30 under 30 in Science, Heather's doctoral research at Carnegie Mellon's Robotics Institute and company, Marilyn Monrobot Labs, in NYC keep her busy but she still finds time to produce the annual festival in San Francisco. Her New York lab creates socially intelligent robot performances and sensor-based electronic art such as the Robot Film Festival and Cyborg Cabaret.

Located in SF's Potrero Hill, this free event offers cutting-edge films in a full day of robot films & festivities culminating in the annual Botskers award ceremony. The theme in 2014 is Telepresence & Identity: Human-Machine Integration. The Saturday events open with complimentary donuts, followed by the US premiere of Japanese film "Hinokio". Also enjoy a complementary wood-fire pizza dinner, red carpet and robot demos. The film festival is one of California's unique and fun events that cyborgs and humans come together to celebrate and enjoy. The public is invited to attend.
