Livermore's annual Nutcracker Ballet performed by the Valley Dance Theatre is a delightful Tri-Valley experience sure to entertain audiences of all ages. Performances are held in the Livermore Valley Performing Arts Center.  Each December, the full-length production of Tchaikovsky's holiday classic, The Nutcracker, is presented with the Livermore Amador-Symphony pit orchestra, Harmony Fusion Chorus and Valley Concert Chorale.

Betsy Hausburg - Under the artistic direction of co-founder of Valley Dance Theatre, the ballet company has grown since it began in 1980. Hausburg brings to the company years of education and training, having performed professionally with Syracuse Ballet Theatre and the Hartford Ballet, as well as receiving a BA cum laude in Dance from Butler University where she was Dean of Students for a two year teacher training program.  She's taught and has lent her choreography skills to countless schools and opera companies, and has often shared her gift as professional costumer and seamstress.

Other exceptional faculty and staff at Valley Dance Theatre include Barbara Campbell, who studied with Maria Vegh, formerly with Harkness Foundation, New York City, and with Alexi Ramov, formerly with Lehigh Valley Ballet Guild, Pennsylvania; Genoa Sperske, who received BA degrees in Dance and Drama from University of California, Irvine in 2003, and choreographed for Bare Bones Dance Theatre; Connie Zaug, who began as a competitive gymnast from the ages of eleven to seventeen, while also studying ballet and mime. She was fortunate to have studied ballet under director Hannah C. Wiley, renowned teacher and researcher on the anatomical/biomechanical efficiency of ballet.  Beyond her university training, Connie has also studied with the prominent modern dancer Bill Evans, who emphasizes the use of Laban Movement Analysis and techniques that promote a dancer’s longevity.  Her BA in dance, Magna Cum Laude, from the University of Washington, and her MA in counseling from the University of New Mexico provide insight to assist dancers in understanding of the mind-body connection in movement and dance.

Marika Brussel,  Brenna O'Hair and Kathi Curtis all bring to Valley Dance Theatre years of education, training and experience to help youth in Children's Division -through Upper Division and Adult Classes. valleydancetheatre.com
