All Arcata Parks are managed without the use of pesticides. Whether it's barbecuing at Redwood Park, climbing the rock wall at Arcata Community Park, shooting hoops at Stewart Park or soccer at the Sports Complex, there is plenty of fun to be had. Special events are held throughout the year, including concerts in the park and the annual Arcata Bay Oyster Festival.

One of Arcata's unique offerings is the Food Works kitchen. The Foodworks Culinary Center is designed to facilitate small and start-up food manufacturing businesses in support of Arcata's niche foods sector. The facility offers monthly and hourly kitchen rentals, both cold and dry storage available on a monthly rental basis, and a warehouse with a receiving dock. The rental kitchen is provisioned with commercial grade equipment including a commercial 6 burner range and oven, a two door convection oven, steam jacketed kettle, 32 quart mixer, stainless steel work tables, a Multivac (vacuum seal) machine and a three compartment sink. Rental kitchen tenants may schedule for use during available times as listed on the Rental Kitchen Calendar. Some of the most exciting events in Arcata not necessarily sponsored by the parks & rec include the Kinetic Sculpture World Championship.

Sports Field Rentals

The City of Arcata has beautiful, lush, green soccer fields and immaculately maintained softball and baseball fields that are available for public use. There are soccer and softball fields at both the Arcata Sports Complex and the fields at Pacific Union School. The Arcata Ballpark is available for baseball. Reservation inquiries may be made by calling the Arcata Recreation Division at 822-7091.
