California City Parks
With more than 300 acres of parks within City limits, Ontario
has an extensive system of parks and recreation areas offering a
wide variety of family and sports opportunities.
Largest among these is the 150-acre Cucamonga-Guasti Regional
Park. With a lake, swimming, fishing, boating and water slides,
the park features 26 group picnic areas, a playground plus
volleyball and horseshoes.
The 42-acre John Galvin Park includes a 2,500 seat baseball
stadium as well as picnic areas, tot lots and tennis courts.
Also offering swimming, and volleyball, John Galvin Park is
adjacent to the 15 acre West Cucamonga Creek Trails which
provide 2.4 miles of bicycle and hiking trails - ever-popular
for nature walks - as well as a 1.3 mile equestrian trail.
The 23-acre Westwind Park is home to Ontario's annual Fourth of
July Fireworks Spectacular and includes lighted Little League
fields, softball and soccer fields, volleyball and basketball
courts, as well as lighted tennis courts, the Westwind Community
Center, a gymnasium and swimming pool. The site of the annual
Cinco de Mayo Festival, 20-acre De Anza Park features a concert
bowl and offers group picnic areas; a tot lot; softball,
basketball and volleyball courts; and swimming.
Natural and undeveloped, the 21-acre Whispering Lakes features
two lakes for fishing, a natural amphitheater and trail system
with trees and native landscaping. Also among the City's larger,
developed parks is the 18-acre Colony Park with picnic areas, a
tot lot, basketball court, open turf, bike and pedestrian paths.
Meanwhile, Homer F. Briggs Park includes an equestrian area,
Little League baseball, basketball, picnic areas and a tot lot.
Additionally, more than a dozen other parks provide a variety of
venues and outdoor recreation.
Throughout Ontario, opportunities for family fun, sports and
outdoor enthusiasts are easily found.
