The small
gated community of Surfside doesn't have a parks &
recreation department of its community because it isn't
really a city. It is a gated complex
on the beach
with services and other amenities provided by the City of
Seal Beach.
However, the beach is as good a playground as it gets,
and no one complains (especially kids) about the playground
on the beach. The play unit contains swings, slides, and
toddler swings. It has all sorts of colorful climbing things
for kids.
In addition to the play equipment, there are volleyball
posts though no nets were provided the last time we looked.
The span of the beach approx. 1/2 mile in Surfside contains
several volleyball posts for sand volleyball games. And
right on the edge of Surfside there's another recreation in
addition to ocean swimming and surfing.
Kite and wind surfers can mount their boards in the area,
which explains why the parking near the water tower house is
one of the most popular spots.
