Balboa Paddle Boarder - Photo

Paddleboarding is a popular sport in the Newport Harbor and bay. The village of Balboa and Balboa Island are the launch points for paddleboarding shown in the photo. This photograph was taken from the shores next to Balboa Island Market where the Balboa/ Newport Ferry taxis back and forth from Balboa Peninsula to Balboa Island.

Oftentimes you'll see paddleboarders plying the placid waters of the sometimes busy bay, and if you are so inclined to try your hand at this sport, you can rent a paddleboard from the concessionaires near the Balboa Pavilion, an historic building shown in this photograph.

The historic pavilion was built in the early 1900s and today is open as Harborside Restaurant, with an upstairs rental facility offering sweeping views of the bay.

If paddleboarding isn't your thing, there are rentals of other types of water craft such as electric Duffy boats, electric motor boats and kayaks.

One of the most photographed destinations in Orange County, Balboa Island is a popular for vacation rentals where families and friends visit and stay, usually for a week.
