Whittier, CA--Two former residents have returned, bringing Paradise with them. Craig Hoelzel and his business partner, Toni Echt, recently opened Paradise Island Decor, featuring bamboo, wicker and rattan furniture as well as tropical decor, on the top floor of famous King Richards Antique Center, 12301 Whittier Boulevard.

"We call it Mid-Century Modern--a Palm Springs look, retro with a modern tinge," explained Hoelzel. "This look has become a rage, especially with the younger generation that's bringing it back and into their homes and workplaces."

"I've always had it; always been a hang-loose-type guy, who loves the desert and beach. When you come down the stairs in my house, you see rattan, bamboo and wicker in my living room. It puts me in a happy mood and I get a relaxed state of mind just seeing it."

Hoelzel, who has worked in the entertainment and special events fields for years, said in the often frantic, crowded, urban scene of everyday life, this furniture and decor really helps you relax and get away from the hyper-World so many of us live in. The more than 2,000 pieces of merchandise range in price from a $20 Wicker Heart Mirror to a $3,200 six piece bamboo living room set.
