While fish fries have sometimes given way to “gourmet” crab, lobster and seafood festivals in California, there remain a few tried & true events such as Costa Mesa Lions Club Fish Fry, now in its 72nd year! Congratulations to these hard working volunteers who put on a feast for the public to eat (at a price,) to benefit local charities.
With the motto, “We Serve,” Lions Club International was founded over 100 years ago (1917) in the U.S., as a non-political organization with more than 46,000 clubs and 1.4 million members in 200 countries around the world.
In California there are approx. 730 clubs and 20,000 members united to support the needy in virtually every local community. Lions of California organization says it “welcomes, embraces, and partners in service projects with like minded individuals, associations, and corporations.” It’s possible you’ve not noticed their good deeds — do check them out.
