Apple Days

You’d be amazed at all the things you can do with apples. Some carve them into shapes and sell them at craft boutiques. But we prefer to eat an apple a day. Apples are celebrated at many festivals throughout California. Riley’s Los Rios Rancho in Yucaipa hosts an Apple Butter Festival (shown in photo) around Thanksgiving but you actually can go there now and pick varieties such as Granny Smith, Golden Delicious, Pippin, Red Delicious, Rome Beauty, Spartan, Virginia Winesap and Staymen Winesap. They do not use pesticides on their 8,000 Heirloom fruit trees.
