Apple, Tomato Festivals Offer Chance to Ask Growers

Sebastopol’s annual Gravenstein Apple Fair (right photos) is on its way with apple pies, caramel apples, baking contests, farm animals and all sorts of wholesome goodness out at Ragle Ranch Regional Park August 12-13, 2017. Also this week is  Woodland Tomato Festival and Farmer’s Market on August 12.

With the  2017 spring release of genetically modified apples into grocery stores (the apples don’t turn brown) and the prevalence of GMO tomatoes, as well as chemical sprays now soaking our favorite breakfast cereals, the fun community festivals featuring local crops are one of your best bets to ask growers and sellers about their growing practictes and use of chemicals on the foods you put in your body and feed your kids.
