The National Yo-yo Contest which has taken place in Chico since 1993 (a whoping 21 years) is not hosting the mega-event in 2015. It has moved to Southern California and will be held indoors on Saturday, September 26, 2015 at the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center. Chico, home to the National Yo-yo Museum where you will find the World’s Largest Wood Yoyo, is synonamous with Yo-yo. That’s one of the reasons this contest shift to another city is so huge.
The official word from the National Yo-yo League which puts on the event: “As the community has grown, abilities have flourished, and the competitive sport has evolved, the time is right to take Nationals to the next level. We’re really excited for this opportunity to grow the event and hope that you will join us for the inaugural year of Nationals becoming a moving event.”
