Happy New Year 2017, with a splash!
CALIFORNIA BEACHES — Thousands of revelers ignored 24-to-72 hour pollution warnings and ran right into icy waters just hours after it rained, greeting New Year’s Day 2017 with a splash. In Huntington Beach (shown in photos,) many more people watched from the Huntington Beach Pier and Huntington City Beach than the 300 brave souls who entered the ocean. The scene was fairly typical of the 1,000+ miles of beaches that span the state. Studies have shown that only a fraction of beach visitors actually enter the water, even in the best of times when water quality ranks A+. What do millions of beach-goers do to entertain themselves?
