There’s no sense in barking if you don’t have a lot to say. – Snoopy

This week on December 15, 2017 the Snoopy House  (pictured) in front of Costa Mesa City Hall opens free to the public, continuing a 50-plus year tradition of delighting all ages with cut-out characters, miniature houses and scenes from A Charlie Brown Christmas. It is one of the many places Californians celebrate the holidays with the Peanuts gang.

Where you won’t find Snoopy this year:

  • The widow of Charles Schulz lost their Santa Rosa home to the massive fire two months ago. Jean Schulz, president of the board of directors for the Charles M. Schulz Museum and Research Center in Santa Rosa, married her sweetheart in the house in 1973, according to the museum’s timeline.
  • Craig Schulz, who lives in Santa Rosa with his family, also lost his house in the fire.

Where to find Snoopy at Christmas

  • Knott’s Berry Farm in Buena Park, home to Camp Snoopy (opened in 1983,) features the return of Merry Christmas Snoopy with a fabulous ice show at the Charles M. Schulz Theater.
  • California’s Great America in Santa Clara also is home to Snoopy, Charlie Brown and the gang this holiday season
  • Gilroy Gardens has a holiday filled with Peanuts cartoon fun.
  • The Charles M. Schulz Museum in Santa Rosa brings the life and cartoons of the famed creator into focus with exhibits and special events such as the Gingerbread Doghouse Workshop.
  • Next door to the Schulz Museum is Snoopy’s Home On Ice, Redwood Empire Ice Arena.
  • On the Hollywood Walk of Fame you can visit the Charles Schulz star any time of year!
  • ABC TV broadcasts A Charlie Brown Christmas on December 21, 2017.
