Something that never happens is happening this weekend. History is being made as dozens of the classics of rock converge on Huntington State Beach to perform in two days of rock concerts at the Huntington Beach Music, Art & Food Festival (hbfest.com). An estimated 30,000 are fans are expected to attend the launch of the old school-new rules festival. Traditionally California’s public beaches such as Huntington Beach haven’t been available for private concerts and liquor service, but that’s all changing. Last weekend’s Made in America music festival sponsored by a beer company in L.A.’s Grand Park was a similar experiment that succeeded in bringing concert-goers, revenue, and entertainment to public venues.  Here are a few musicians coming to HB and their popular lyrics & songs you may recognize if you grew up in the 70s and beyond:

Pictured above left to right:
Mark McGrath (Sugar Ray): Someday, When my life has passed me by, I’ll lay around and wonder why
Bobby Kimball (Toto):  Hold the line – Love isn’t always on time
Sheila E:  She wants to lead the glamorous life – She don’t need a man’s touch – But without love it ain’t much
Gary Wright:  Dreamweaver, I believe you can get me through the night
