- Do you have the swiftest Dachshund? Submit your paper on why your pet should be chosen to run at Los Alamitos Race Track in the Wienerschnitzel Nationals. Participants are selected based on the creativity of their entries.
- Does your dog surf? Imperial Beach Surf Dog contest, an Unleashed by Petco event, Hangs 10.
- Does your nautical doggy ride boats? On May 21, 2016, 9 a.m., the Port of Los Angeles (lawaterfront.org) hosts Pet Parade Waves & Wheels & Woofs which includes a special one-hour, dog-friendly free boat tour limited to people and their well-behaved, leashed dogs who participate in the parade.
- Is your dog patriotic? Make a beeline for Foster City (fostercity.org) Fourth of July Family & Dog Parade.
