Giant Sand Sculpture in Palm Desert

PALM DESERT, CALIF. — Oooh, it’s going to be cool in the desert! From March 4 to March 7, 2015 stars of Travel Channel’s Sand Masters show are building a sand sculpture, possibly to beat all. Pictured is their Guinness World Record sculpture built last year in Rio de Janeiro. This spring at the Coachella Valley Wildflower Festival they can been seen sculpting 24 tons (48,000 pounds) of sand supplied by Granite Construction of Indio. They’ll be on location sculpting 24 tons (48,000 pounds) of sand at the site of the free festival which takes place March 7 at the Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains National Monument Visitor Center.
