Huge Weekend Festivals

HALF MOON BAY, CALIF. — Just like Mavericks Big Wave surf contest, Half Moon Bay Art & Pumpkin Festival this weekend swamps the charming seaside town from its usual 12,000 people to three or four times that amount. Describing the event as big is an understatement. It is HUGE, especially since John Hawkley just won the giant pumpkin weigh-off with his 2,058 pound specimen. He didn’t beat the world record–he fell short by approx. 238 pounds but he did set a record for North America.
