Who knows what good fortune may come your way if you decide to attend one of the Top 10 Parades in the World, the San Francisco Chinese New Year Parade celebrating the Year of the Pig on February 22, 2019? It’s a fabulous show of colorful floats, costumes, kids, adults, bands and balloons, even. It’s an evening taste of sizzling San Francisco, launching at 2nd & Market Streets, lined with iconic buildings and staged lighting along the route.
In addition, there’s a festival spanning three weeks of sports competitions, a beauty pageant, banquet, flower market and street fair. If you’re in San Francisco, this is a must-see event.
If you’re in California, there are many more Lunar, Chinese and Tet celebrations tempting you to explore. But be forewarned — rain may cancel — check before you go! Just know that rain is a lucky sign for residents and farmers. If it doesn’t rain like many years past, water restrictions are in your future.
