Old Fashioned, All Ages Fun in California Counties

Published on: June 06, 2019

Pictured is the annual Fairfax Festival, taking place June 8-9, 2019 in Marin County’s charming Town of Fairfax. Past luminaries performing on stage or riding in the parade have included 60-70s era rock luminaries who live in this eco-conscious region which has previously taken a stance on promoting non-GMO foods, stopping the pesticide spraying in Marin, banning plastic takeout bags and urging a moratorium on smart meters.

While Fairfax Festival offers lots of eco-friendly touches and old-fashioned fun, another event lets kids and adults get out among the fields and farm animals at  Family Farm Day and Threshing Bee in Butte County’s Durham. Patrick Ranch Museum hosts this annual, lively event that’s great for all ages.

More fun stuff includes Railroad Days in Siskiyou County’s Dunsmuir. Those visiting recently with the Outdoor Writers Association of California reported that this event it really a highlight to summer activities!

In Riverside County an event that’s fun for everyone is Rods & Rails, plus Potato Festival where kids typically do some hands-on potato crafting.

Amador County is really beautiful throughout the seasons but a special time to visit is during Daylily Days in Plymouth’s Amador Flower Farm on Shenandoah Road.

From Orange County’s Rancho Santa Margarita Rancho Fest to Palos Verdes Street Fair in Rolling Hills Estates (Los Angeles County), the good times this weekend are a hop skip away.
