Celebrating Presidents’ Day Holiday

Many Californians and citizens of the United States get Monday off for Presidents’ Day. At Calico Ghost Town in Yermo, Calif., the annual Presidents’ Day Weekend Civil War Re-enactment February 17-18, 2018 offers a great family getaway.  It is one of the annual celebrations in California to honor presidents current and past.

Presidents’ Day

  • Celebrated on third Monday in February.
  • Is legal holiday in California. Closures typically include banks, government offices and schools.
  • Originally established to honor George Washington, first president of the U.S.
  • U.S. presidents who have lived in California include Ronald Reagan, Richard Nixon, Herbert Hoover, Gerald Ford and Donald Trump.
  • Two Presidential Libraries in California are located in Simi Valley and Yorba Linda.
