If you think that the 3-day Memorial Weekend has ended, don't jump the gun. There's only 4 days till the next weekend comes around and if you skip out Friday, you can make it 3. ALAMEDA - Sand Castle Contest. Annual Sand Castle and Sand Sculpture Contest at Robert Crown Memorial State Beach - Westline Drive & Otis Drive, Alameda, CA. Cost: Free! Registration 9 - 11 a.m. Viewing and judging at 12 Noon; Awards presented at 1 p.m.

COSTA MESA - Three Rockabilly Bands, concert. Ryan Bradley Affair, noon; Dawn Shipley and the Sharp Shooters, 1 p.m. and Captain Jeffrey and the Chumbuckets, 2 p.m. West Coast Rockabilly Showdown contest pits 12 unsigned rockabilly bands for cash prize of $2,500 and performance at Hootenanny 2011 rockabilly fest at Oak Canyon Ranch in Irvine.
