Blooming Summer at Filoli Garden in Bay Area

Woodside, Calif.-Nestled in the rolling foothills of San Mateo County's Coastal Range mountains, you'll find an estate and gardens that will simply amaze you. Who can believe that there's a place more opulent than Oprah's home in Montecito, yet open to the public? Filoli is the name of the place in the Bay Area open to the public February through October. The unusual name of the place was given to it by the owner, William Bourne, who built his country retreat nearly 100 years ago in 1917. Filoli stands for "to Fight, to Love, to Live".

As you drive up to the estate, you may recognize its gated entry seen in movies and shows such as Dynasty. The estate has appeared in these movies and productions: Joy Luck Club, Lolita, The Game, George of the Jungle, What Dreams May Come, Stigmata, Wedding Planner, and Rent.

Television productions include: Dynasty, Star Man, An Inconvenient Woman, Nash Bridges, Bob Vila's Historic House of America, America's Castles, and many more.

Filoli Gardens is open Tuesday-Saturday 10 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.; Sunday 11 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Admission is $15; Senior $13; Students $5. Location: 86 Canada Road, Woodside, CA. filoli.org
