Columbia State Historic Park  three miles north of Sonora, off Highway 49 features an authentic California Gold Rush town allowing visitors to step back in time. Stay the night at one of several historic hotels, or visit for the day and take a tour, learning about California's gold rush in these Sierra foothills. Take in a performances at the Fallon Theatre or time your visit to many special events throughout the year. It's a fantastic and memorable journey that is like no other!

This weekend in the beautiful Gold Rush town of Columbia there's a fireman's muster like no other! If you want to know what a muster is, we put together some information to help. The fun competition often involves relays and fire knowledge exercises with the added challenge of antique equipment being employed.  If you think this type of event is just for adults, children are often bit by the bug that makes them want to grow up to be  firemen (or women) when they experience the exciting musters, open houses and other community outreach events. Fire Musters and Events:

  • COLUMBIA Fireman's Muster May 3-4, 2014
