Graeagle Memorial Weekend Shop-Hop

Not a sock hop, but a shop hop, the annual event in the cute little village of Graeagle takes place each year on Memorial Weekend. Merchants offer deals to shoppers, who vie for prizes with a passport that gets stamped at the local shops. Where's Graeagle's local shops? If you're out on a very long drive in California, you'll find the city in Plumas County, approx. an hour's drive from Reno, NV. Graeagle Shop-Hop is ideal for those wanting to escape big city life for a couple of days.

Billed as a golf resort destination, the city has two golf areas in town providing some play time for the other half of your traveling clan who may not like to shop. Plumas Pines Golf Resort or Feather River Inn Golf Course both offer packages for stays. It's a long way from Los Angeles to Graeagle - 530 miles, but if you're coming from San Franciso it is a mere 232 miles. Closer yet, residents of Grass Valley are only 80 miles distance from this charming escape in the heart of Plumas National Forest.

Graeagle was once a company town where lumber mills busily sawed away, and boxes for the fruit industry were made. Today, you can enjoy the tall forests, antique shopping, and outdoor sports the region is known for. The town is serene and well kept and the buildings reflect its former life as a mill town. Shops are located in many of the buildings constructed in the early 20th century!

The people who turned us onto this destination are the Plumas County Visitors Bureau in Quincy, California.
