Laguna Picnic Beach Hosts Sunset Serenade Concerts Through May 2011

If a public park called Picnic Beach Park which is surrounded by art and overlooks the Pacific blue offers free entertainment, wouldn't that be a great place to go on Friday evenings? We think so.

Sunset Serenades is held every Friday evening through May at the Picnic Beach entrance in Heisler Park on Cliff Drive. The concerts start at 6:30 p.m. and are free. The schedule of performers include: 5/13 Beth Wood - Singer & songwriter; 5/20 The Berkley Hunts performing Eclectic Folk; and 5/27 Matt Poltrano Piano Jazz Trio. This program is funded by the lodging establishments and City of Laguna Beach.

Laguna Beach Picnic Beach Park is the city's most popular park (or tied with Main Beach Park) because of its ocean views and picnic facilities on a cement deck above the ocean. As summer approaches in Laguna Beach and the majority of its three million visitors plan their vacations, the concert series is held just before that big rush of traffic arrives.

Laguna Beach is known for having the most beaches of any city in California; the most art events and art galleries per capita of any city in California; and the most hotels on the ocean side of Pacific Coast Highway of any city in California (except for San Diego, and possibly San Francisco.)
