Californians think they have it all -but once you taste succulent Maine lobster, you realize the West Coast is missing out on one great delicacy. You don't have to fly to the East Coast to sample Maine lobster, however. Within a month there are three major lobster events to satisfy cravings, and introduce this treat to those who haven't had the good fortune of tasting a prized seafood shipped live from Maine to L.A.

Last week we attended and wrote about the Original Lobster Festival in Long Beach. If you missed that event, there are are two on the way-the San Pedro Lobster Festival, and the Redondo Beach Lobster Festival. The Redondo Beach Surf ‘N Turf Lobster Festival celebrates the season with a new spin this year, steak & lobster dinners, as well as the traditional Maine Lobster Dinner. Three days of eating the finest foods and drinking delicious beverages in an oceanfront paradise setting at Seaside Lagoon, great bands, and good times come special delivery, courtesy of the Redondo Beach Chamber of Commerce, event sponsor.

Plan to visit, eat, dance, stroll through the vendor village, and be entertained by shows and music. Featured bands include the Couchois Brothers, Danny Hamilton & the Mudslingers, and Steely Dan, Beach Boys and Beatles Tributes. Hot Club of Hulaville, influenced by the legendary Gypsy guitar virtuoso, Django Rinehard, takes the stage on Aloha Sunday (September 26.) Danny Dean & the Rockabilly Rebels, and Open Wide will also perform during the event.

Mechanical bull rides on Locals Night launch, e KLOS Street Team, and a free souvenir glass included with the first 500 drinks purchased on Friday are a few perks of going early. Throughout the weekend super shark slide for kids, and arcade-style games for all-ages offer kid and adult-size fun.
