Helping Save Rarest Giraffes

HERE’S THE STORY:

B Bryan Preserve in Point Arena, Calif. is fundraising to finish building a Giraffe house. The 501(c)3 (tax deductible) contributions in the short term serve to hold Rothschild giraffes, one of the rarest animals in the world with only 650 remaining in the wild. Males are kept at the Reserve on a temporary basis to help zoos stabalize the population with genetic diversity.

With a mission of sustainability the B Bryan Reserve owners Frank & Judy have been building a beautiful structure made from reclaimed barn wood and antique stained glass. SUNPOWER has donated solar panels and additional contributions will help complete the project.

The future is uncertain for the Rothschild giraffe. This subspecies is already extinct in Sudan and numbers are dangerously low in Kenya and Uganda. The Reserve allows visitors to the Northern California Coast to see rare animals cared for at the facility, such as Grevys zebras. You can also book a room and stay there. What a special vacation! Other places to see rare animals such as horned Gazelle include The Living Desert in Palm Desert, or Project Survival Cat Haven near Sequoia -Kings Canyon National Park.
