With passport, one wine tasting flight at 17 participating wineries, plus special lodging and restaurant offers Where: Various Calistoga area wineries Passport  (must be over 21 to purchase) Calistoga's 3rd Annual Winter in the Wineries, Dec. 2, 2011 through Feb. 5, 2012, offers a relaxed way to tour, taste wine and meet winemakers at 17 heralded wineries both large and small, in and around this charming small town at the top of Napa Valley. Passport holders will have access to a select group of Calistoga wineries during the two-month period for one low price of $50 - an extraordinary value.

Recognized in 2009 as an American Viticultural Area (AVA) with distinct geographic features and growing conditions, Calistoga is Napa Valley's 15th officially designated winegrowing region. A Winter in the Wineries' Passport provides a special way to explore what makes Calistoga unique as a wine-growing region during Napa Valley's Cabernet Season.

Passport holders can visit as many times as they like during this time to use all 17 tastings (one tasting flight per winery), as well as receive discounts at several of Calistoga's finest restaurants and lodging properties. Participating restaurants will waive corkage for passport holders, and lodgings are offering special room rates for passport holders to entice them to stay a little longer.

Participating wineries include: Castello di Amorosa, Bennett Lane Winery, Chateau Montelena, Envy Winery, Jericho Canyon Winery, Kenefick Ranch Wines, Lava Vine Winery, Madrigal Vineyards, Rios Wine Co., Sterling Vineyards, Summers Estate Wines, Tudal Winery, Twomey Cellars, Vermeil Wines/OnThEdge Winery, Von Strasser Winery, W.H. Smith Wines and Zahtila Vineyards.

Hours of wine tasting vary per winery and participants are asked to look for instructions on their passport as some wineries require an advance appointment.

Lodging properties offering special room rates to passport holders include: Best Western Plus Stevenson Manor; Brannan Cottage Inn; Calistoga Inn, Restaurant and Brewery; Calistoga Spa Hot Springs; Calistoga Wine Way Inn; Carlin Country Cottages; Chelsea Garden Inn; Christopher's Inn; Comfort Inn Calistoga; Craftsman Inn; Eurospa & Inn; Mount View Hotel & Spa and Roman Spa Hot Springs.

Participating restaurants include All Seasons; Barolo; Brannan's Grill; Calistoga Inn, Restaurant and Brewery; and JoLe.

Other exciting annual events in Calistoga include the Community Christmas Bazaar at the Napa County Fairgrounds, an annual Tamale Festival, and Summer Concerts.
