Calimesa is a relatively young
California city, only incorporated in
1990. This Inland Empire land of plenty
on the border of Riverside County and San Bernardino County in the San Gorgonio Mountain Pass
grew out of its convenience--the I-10 freeway
passes by Calimesa.
Bragging rights
include cleaner air and cooler
temperatures than neighboring cities,
attributed largely to its elevation --
2,392 feet.
Slightly older than average, the
population tends toward retirees
who are predominantly Caucasian, and generally live
in owner-occupied housing.
Small town ways give in to city
growth: New development approved bring
thousands of new residents to Calimesa-- Summerwind Ranch, Mesa Verde Estates, Heritage Oaks, and JP Ranch.
The Shoppes at Calimesa, County Line Village
and a variety of new shops and stores
are also part of the growth.
Special events in Calimesa have
included Calimesa Street Faire in
October. The event features food
vendors, crafts, and live entertainment
with bands.
