Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony with Bakersfield Mayor  joined by councilmembers and Santa Claus at Centennial Plaza, Dignity Health Arena.

The Tree Lighting Ceremony event usually takes place before the professional ice hockey team, Bakersfield Condors, hosts its annual Teddy Bear Toss during their game inside the arena. The American Hockey League affiliate (of the National Hockey League's Edmonton Oilers,) this year competes against Henderson Silver Knights on November 29, 2025, 7 p.m. with the crowd participating in the Teddy Bear Toss by bringing new bear donations to be tossed on the ice after the Condors first goal. Last year a record was set with a capacity crowd donating (throwing onto the ice) 159,916 stuffed animals to United Way of Central Eastern California.

While the tree lighting ceremony is free, the Teddy Bear Toss and game are a ticketed event (bakersfieldcondors.com) or axs.com
