The costume contest begins at 2:30 p.m. with prizes awarded to first through third place.

7th Annual family friendly event includes . There will be local vendors, who will pass out candy, as well as a costume contest. This event is a great opportunity to spend quality time together as a family. Along with the Trick or Treat Trail,  there are go-karts, bumper boats, mini golf, arcade games, a batting cage and kiddie rides. The mini golf course is transformed into a spooky trail ready for trick-or-treaters. Parents are welcome to join in on all the spooky fun. 20 Bakersfield area businesses set up along the trail, passing out candy as well as coupons for their products.

The Kern County Museum Foundation presents annual Safe Halloween.

More than 50 candy trick or treat stations sponsored by local businesses and organizations on the grounds of the museum are a fundraiser for the Kern County Museum. Other activities include children's carnival and entertainment. Tickets should be purchased in advance as this event is sure to be a sell out. Children ages 3 to 12 can Trick-or-Treat at many stations. There will be a costume contest, school-type carnival and a cakewalk. Food and beverages will be for sale. Enjoy a bewitchingly good time trick-or-treating in a safe and fun environment.
