Carlsbad Pumpkin Plunge

Pool activities and games for the whole family during the City of Carlsbad’s annual Pumpkin Plunge includes a Pool Pumpkin Patch where every child gets to keep lasso and keep a pumpkin. Food available at the Dive In Grill. Movie starts at dusk. Prizes, floating obstacles, a Splash Pad, bounce house, lawn games, and every child gets to lasso a pumpkin and keep it. The night ends with a special movie presentation of Disney's Monsters, Inc.

2 p.m. Trick or Treat

3-7 p.m. Games in the Village, hosted by the Boys and Girls Club of Carlsbad Village (3115 Roosevelt St.), with carnival games of all kinds, both indoors and out, a bounce house and  candy corn and popcorn. No entry fee.

4 p.m. Costume Contest at Village Faire Shopping Center, 300 Carlsbad Village Dr.

Merchants hand out candy at the mall to children dressed in costumes. Trick or treating begins in late afternoon. We've been at the Outlets twice on Halloween and it seems to be the day merchants participate.

Other fun events include Carlsbad Eggstravaganza at Easter time and a full schedule of summer concerts.
