Many of us living in L.A. assume that there aren't any farms to visit or enjoy. So when we were alerted to a beautiful family farm in Mission Hills near the intersection of the 405 and 5 Freeways, we were simply a-mazed. Each year the Forneris Family Farm transforms into a Halloween Maze, Pumpkin Patch and hosts a month-long celebration for the fall harvest that coincides with Halloween. Kids can pet animals, pick out pumpkins and enjoy wandering with their parents in a corn maze. Adults may want to listen to the sounds of great bands from bluegrass to contemporary, and also partake in the farm life as this family farm opens its doors to the public, allowing them to wander and explore. From live musical acts on an outdoor stage, to the corn maze, guess the weight of the pumpkin contest, or other simple delights, the family fun never ends just minutes from the 101 Fwy in Los Angeles. Only one of 2 farms left in the San Fernando Valley, great pride and heritage are part & parcel of this 3rd generation farm enterprise run by owner/ farmer, John Forneris. His farm fresh produce is sold roadside throughout the year.
