Halloween Tour Unsolved Mysteries at the Bowers Museum   Special Events -- Join a spine-tingling experience that will haunt you! This 30-minute tour in the Historic Wing highlights mysteries surrounding artifacts and a ghostly presence often felt in the museum's original building, dating back to 1936.

Night of Altars, a community based Dia de los Muertos celebration, reflects Mexican tradition. Organized by volunteers,  families, students, community organizations, activists, artists, and businesses are invited to build an altar in memory of a deceased loved one or to bring awareness to a social issue.  In addition to viewing altars, there are cultural performances and live music.

Bowers Museum Day of the Dead Festival

Honor the Mexican belief that departed loved ones come back to Earth for three days to reunite with family members in a joyful celebration including music, dance and food.

  •  12 - 3 pm Joel Aceves, classical guitarist, plays Mexican Boleros
  • 11 am - 3 pm Free Mexican hot chocolate and pan dulce, face painting, and art projects including Sugar Skull Decorating, Calavera Masks and Marigold Flower Hair Garlands.
  • 12 pm O.C. Mariachi Kids
  • 1 pm Raices de Mexico Ballet Folklorico
  • 1:30 pm Bolillo y Su Conjunto's Tex Mex music
  • 2:30 pm Xipe Totec Danza Azteca
