Pomona, CA -- Los Angeles County Fair is held at
Fairplex in Pomona. It is one of three
such county fairs held in Los Angeles
County, which is spread over hundreds of
miles. However, this fair is the primary
fair for the county.
If you don't go at
peak, free times, you may have a good
time at one of California's biggest,
best attended fairs. There's so much to
see and do, and it's spread over quite
an area so there generally seems to be
more of everything going on.
This urban fair in what seems more
like a gigantic convention center is
held on the outskirts of L.A. The
Fairplex has events going on throughout
the year, but the fair is one of the
biggest and best attended, utilizing
most the complex facilities.
Home and house goods, services and
entertainment, agricultural displays and
competitions, petting zoos for the kids,
and a monstrous carnival with all the
rides, the fairway, "joints" with games,
and devilish food spread throughout the
fairgrounds offer plenty of ways to
spend your money. While the LA County
Fair is not unlike other county fairs
around the state, there's just so much
more of everything--food, entertainment
and people!
The fair features the same events and
attractions as other California county
fairs but for horse racing fans it
offers the extra bonus of live
racing. There are only 7 of some 7o+
fairs that offer live racing during the
fair event.
Don't miss 15 days of live thoroughbred racing at Fairplex Park during the 2011 L.A. County Fair, September 8-26.
Now in its 72nd season, the sport of kings is available to all race fans during the Fair, Thursday, Sept. 8 Monday, Sept. 26 (dark Monday 12 & 19 and Tuesdays). The excitement takes place at Fairplex Park. Post time is 1 p.m. everyday.
Fair admission gates open Wednesday - Friday at 11 a.m. and Saturday and Sunday at 10 a.m.; Horse Racing admission gates open Monday at 11 a.m. The Fair is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Los Angeles County Fair is one of the
oldest, largest fairs in California. Its
success comes from the sheer size of Los
Angeles County. It spans hundreds of
miles from the ocean to the mountains
and includes agricultural enterprise
among the 10.5 million residents (Los
Angeles County often adds 500,000 new
residents in a year!)
The event includes horse racing with
onsite wager betting, a huge draw to
horse race fans. The fair is held each
year at Fairplex in Pomona, a year-round
meeting space venue. Parking often is a
problem during the fair, which has
outgrown the facility's capability to
handle parking well, especially during
special discount days. If you can go at
the right time and don't mind the wait,
be patient to get into the fair and have
a great time.
The Los Angeles County Fair includes
a carnival with midway game booths and
all the latest extreme thrill rides,
plus vendors with every kind of food,
displays, shows, entertainment,
competitions, petting zoos, and things
you can buy.
One of the exciting events in recent
years has been an olive oil contest in
which the award-winning olive oil is
displayed at the fair.
