  • SALINAS July 17-20, 2014 California Rodeo In 1911 the rodeo, known as the Wild West Show, was held at the Sherwood Race Track grounds. It was a week long event called Big Week. Known for its week-long cavalcade of events, California Rodeo "Big Week" is the largest community event held in Salinas. Parades, barbecues, cowboy poetry, fireworks, concerts, a carnival, and much more. Salinas Rodeo ranks in the top 20 of nearly 800 North American rodeos sanctioned by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association.

MOUNTAIN VIEW: Disability Pride Festival. Annual West Coast Disability Pride Parade & Festival on July 19, 2014 in downtown Mountain View celebrates the historical significance of the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 and coincides with many annual Disability Pride celebrations happening around the world. with a parade at 12 Noon. Location: Centennial Plaza, 701 West Evelyn Avenue. The parade procession travels 4 blocks down Castro Street to Pioneer Park, near City Hall. MURPHYS: Duck Races. Location: Murphys Community Park Time: 11:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. Murphys Homecoming & Duck Races annual celebration of Murphys and its long time residents includes the Community Band at 11:30 a.m., Old Timers Luncheon for local residents over 70 years and Duck Races in the afternoon, public invited.

POINT REYES SEASHORE: July 19, 2014 Time: 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Annual Big Time Festival at Kule Loklo includes Native American trade festival at Kule Loklo, a Coast Miwok Cultural Exhibit. Throughout the day demonstrators will exhibit their skills in basketry, flint knapping, clamshell bead making, and more. Learn more about the culture and traditions of the Coast Miwok and other local American Indians at a variety of informational booths. WALNUT CREEK: Family Theatre Festival July 19, 2014. Presented by Chevron and produced by the Diablo Regional Arts Association and the Lesher Center for the Arts, the Chevron Family Theatre Festival offers families a low-cost day of non-stop theater, dance, and music performances along with visual arts activities both inside and outside the Lesher Center for the Arts. Acts include: Popovich Comedy Pet Theater. The show features Gregory Popovich and 30 trained animals including dogs, cats, geese, birds and mice in a comedy/circus act. Alex Ramon Magic, Sesame Street star puppeteer Leslie Carrara-Rudolph, and Emmy Award-nominated Pushcart Players will perform Red Riding Hood and Other Stories. VENTURA: Pirate Days Festival, July 19-20, 2014
Pirate Days Festival at Ventura Harbor Village offers free family entertainment that captivates audiences with such famous pirate re-enactors as Captain Jack Sparrow and Captain Hook and their crews of scallywags walking along the Harbor's promenade. Pirate's Cove Marketplace includes Pirate Vendors, while Shipwreck Cove comes to life with strolling musicians, nautical knot tying, Aarghbor Boat Tours, photos with pirates, and an enchanted $2 treasure hunt for kids (ages 12 and under).
