Experience Filoli as the grand country estate envisioned by the Bourns: a place for entertainment and agricultural production on an impressive scale. As summer winds down, there's a chill in the air as daylight fades to Nightfall.

Nightfall returns for its 2nd annual takeover of the Filoli estate grounds with bigger, bolder, and more enchantingly eerie than ever lights and color. As twilight descends, Filoli transforms into a mysterious world:

• 1-mile trail loop
• Roaming slugs
• Glowing mushrooms
• Spooky scarecrows
• Giant trolls lurk in shadows
• Pumpkin-filled Meadow
• Enter the halls of the transformed Mansion
• Folklore-inspired Troll sculptures in an outdoor exhibition fuse fairytales, whimsy, and monumental scale within Filoli's Natural Lands 

Step into the hauntingly beautiful House, immerse yourself in a pumpkin-filled Meadow, or wander moonlit woods where and unexpected wonders await.   With just the right mix of spooky and fun, Nightfall's Halloween-themed settings like fields of pumpkins, eerie lighting and stunning, natural features such as mature trees and moonlight, offer a thrilling adventure for everyone.  

 In 2025 the candlelit mansion transforms, becoming a Gothic dream - a witches’ apothecary - come to life. Central to the experience is the Ballroom, where guests step into a witches' gathering to enjoy themed treats and tinctures.

Witches Tea is a ticketed event during the day on weekends; a champagne lounge opens in the evenings. Both require advance reservations and a separate ticket.

In the Meadow, large pumpkin arches will lead the way through flickering jack-o'-lanterns, and a range of Halloween games and decor. Guests can enjoy live music and fire pits while savoring seasonal food and drink. Private fire pit experiences are available for rental.

The adventure continues in the Redwoods as guests traverse a Scarecrow Crossing to make their way to the Woodlands, complete with gigantic banana slugs. The fairy light trail is marked only by the twinkling lights of these mythical creatures.

The Redwoods is the central hub of the experience with a Hay Maze, Shadow Creatures, and a Blacklight Mushroom Forest. Five of Dambo's Trolls are featured, as well as an activity zone for kids, located by Filoli’s new Nature Playspace.

A music stage, food and drink options, and professional Tarot readings complete The Redwoods experience.

About Trolls: Save the Humans Six larger-than-life Trolls have taken up residence at Filoli Historic House and Garden. Six of Danish artist Thomas Dambo’s gigantic folklore-inspired sculptures are currently nestled among the redwoods in an outdoor exhibition that explores the intersection of folklore, poetry, sustainability, and the human relationship to the natural environment. TROLLS: Save the Humans runs through November 10, 2025. Nightfall will be the only opportunity to view the Trolls after dark. ###

Guests can come in costume but the family-oriented attraction requests people leave toy weapons and scary masks at home. Please keep costumes family appropriate and leave. Props are not permitted in the historic House.

Experience includes: 1-mile trail loop over uneven terrain. Food and beverages are available for purchase in the meadow and on the trail. Costumes welcomed!

Today, this estate serves as a community cultural center and announces their autumn season filled with fruitful fall fun!  Gentleman's Orchard  celebrates the harvest season, featuring  stunning fall colors.  The Gentleman's Orchard is an exceptional setting for learning, relaxing, and enjoying the beauty of this season in California's diverse landscape.
